First Day in Ireland

Well here i am!

I arrived at 6:45 this morning on the Emerald Isle and I had quite a time getting here. I met some really fascinating people on the plane and it was really a great experience.

I had researched this old Irish Pirate Princess, Grace O'Malley and on the plane ride from Jersey to Shannon i was sitting next to a man who had lived in Limerick for several years and coached basketball around the area. He was asking me about my plans for Limerick and what I wanted to see and do, and I told him about how i had researched Grace and how i thought she was so amazing and i wanted to see her castles. Turns out that she was his great great great great great great great (etc.) aunt. What a small world. He had all these documents and maps showing me of her castles and then he gave me a book about the history of the Irish.

Coming into the city was great. we rode charter buses and drove on the wrong side of the road....so that was not fun. taking left turns on reds freaks me out. and we drove by the arena and got to see (not go in) St. Johns Castle! there is a lot of history and culture, im learning that is not widely known and i am really looking forward to uncovering as much of it as possible.

We have a free day tomorrow and i am very excited to see where it takes us and for me and my roomie heather to meet our new room mates!
